Now, if you are anything like me, then you will enjoy a game of Internet bingo. But do you enjoy playing bingo in the real world as well? Lots of people do, but over the past couple of years, the world of bingo has been crippled by high taxes meaning many of the smaller venues have shut down.
So hats off and a big hip hip hooray for MP Tim Greatrex, the member for Rutherglen and Hamilton West. He recently visited a bingo hall in the area to discuss local issues and the level of taxes applied on bingo.
Tom has been campaigning for lower taxes on bingo, as he believes that bingo halls are exceptionally important to local communities because they bring people together in a safe and friendly environment. Here’s to that!
He described bingo as having an important social function and was concerned about the higher levels of tax applied to bingo as opposed to other forms of gambling. He has even written a letter to the Tory Treasury Minister asking for UK bingo taxes to be lowered.
Unfortunately, Tom didn’t play a game of bingo at his local Hall but said he had admiration for players who were able to keep their eyes on so many tickets and books at the same time. Of course, the Cyber Bingo Blogger supports bingo in all forms, so if there is a hall near you, get down there and show them you care.
